Mopani: The sterling fight against drugs in Mopani district has borne fruit with the apprehension of two male suspects at a taxi rank. On Thursday, 16 October 2025, at about 10:00, the Mopani Tracking Team and Flying Squad acted on valuable information about a male suspect allegedly dealing in drugs at Nkowa-Nkowa Central Business District (CBD).
According to South African Police Service, an intelligence operation was executed, leading to the positive identification of a 20-year-old male suspect at a local taxi rank. Upon being searched, he was found in possession of 25 sachets of Crystal Meth and 16 sachets of Nyaope drugs, with an estimated street value of R2000-00. Further investigation led to the arrest of a 25-year-old male suspect for dealing in illegal substances.
The second suspect was searched and found with 04 sachets of Crystal Meth. Both suspects were immediately placed under arrest. The police then proceeded to the residence of the 25-year-old suspect at Nkomaneng village, where his room was discovered to be used as a storage location for drugs.
During the raid, drugs with an estimated street value of R4000-00, including grams of dagga, Nyaope, Crystal Meth, and Rock drugs, as well as 60 smoking pipes and cash, were confiscated. The two suspects are expected to appear before the Ritavi Magistrate court soon to face charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
