The Otjiwarongo municipality\u2019s current Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Moses Matyayi has been appointed as the City of Windhoek’s (CoW) new CEO, effective 01 August 2023.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Matyayi’s appointment was announced during the city’s ordinary monthly council meeting on Wednesday by its mayor, Joseph Uapingene.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cThe appointment of a substantive CEO serves as a critical first step towards ensuring the stability of the organisation and it is my belief that through the planned efforts to ensure a conducive environment for the incumbent CEO, the objectives and mandate of council would be effectively executed,\u201d he said.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Matyayi\u2019s appointment follows the rejection of the offer by Road Authority\u2019s CEO, Conrad Lutombi.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Uapingene cautioned that under no circumstances will any attempts to undermine the onboarding process nor attempts to influence or lobby the new CEO be tolerated.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cI am aware of such attempts over the last few weeks, and I strongly emphasise the need to allow for a smooth transition,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The confirmation of the new CEO, he noted coincides with the submission of the 2023\/2024 budget and the commencement of the new financial year on 01 July 2023.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
\u201cI see this as an opportunity to set aside past fractures in leadership with a sense of renewed enthusiasm with a leader at the helm. Let us open our hearts and minds to this gift and work in unison,\u201d he noted.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
CoW has been without a CEO since November 2020 following the resignation of former CEO Robert Kahimise.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
