SEBAYENG – The South African Police Service in Sebayeng in collaboration with the Community Police Forum and Youth Crime Prevention Desk have conducted a Back to School, Safer Schools awareness campaign on Wednesday, on 11 January 2023.<\/P>
<\/P>
The campaign was aimed at raising awareness amongst learners about safety at school, on the way between home and school. A total of 35 schools within Sebayeng policing precinct were patrolled including two high schools were physically visited.<\/P>
<\/P>
SAPS Sebayeng Station Commander, Captain Chris Lekoloane addressed the Learners at Mafolofolo High and Baphutheng Secondary Schools accompanied by members of the Community Police Forum and the Youth Crime Prevention Desk to sensitize learners about the following topics:<\/P>

\u2022 Gangsterism<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Gender-based violence<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 How to report a missing person<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Water safety to prevent drownings<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Bullying<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Dangers of substance Abuse<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Dangerous weapons<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Human Trafficking<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Dangers of Hitchhiking<\/P>
<\/P>
\u2022 Bogus Higher Learning Institutions<\/P>
<\/P>
Captain Lekoloane encouraged the School Management Team to participate in the School Safety Program as it is a national collaborative engagement between the SAPS and the Department of Education to fight crime in the school environment. “The prevention of crime and violence at schools is a shared responsibility for both the Police and the Community through School Governing Body”, said Captain Lekoloane.<\/P>

The contact details of the police station and of the Station Commander as well as of the CPF Executive Committee and of the Youth Desk Coordinator were shared to the Learners and Educators.<\/P>
