{"id":36047,"date":"2021-11-28T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-11-28T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southafricagazette.com\/?guid=f236e577da284df8dcda89e52f5023d9"},"modified":"2021-11-28T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-11-28T00:00:00","slug":"police-officer-to-reappear-in-court","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricagazette.com\/police-officer-to-reappear-in-court\/","title":{"rendered":"Police officer to reappear in court"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>POTCHEFSTROOM &#8211; A 41-year-old Sergeant Frederick Wilhelem Barnard is expected to make a second appearance in the Klerksdorp Magistrates&#8217; Court on Monday, 29 November 2021, for damaging essential infrastructure.<\/p>\n<p>The Sergeant was remanded in custody for a formal bail application upon first court appearance last Monday following his arrest in Wilkoppies, Klerksdorp on Saturday, 20 November 2021. The accused was arrested after the police responded to a tip-off about a man who was allegedly seen burning copper cables at his premises. During the arrest, copper cables with estimated value of R20 000.00 were seized.<\/p>\n<p>Investigation into the matter continues.<\/p>\n<p>The Provincial Commissioner of North West, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena lauded the police for their prompt response to the tip-off and subsequent arrest of the member.
