WESTERN CAPE- 0nke Jilingisi (30), a cash-in-transit robber have been sentenced in the Parow Regional Court yesterday,19 November 2021 to a lengthy prison terms for a 2020 robbery at Pioneer foods,Epping in Cape Town. Jilingisi was sentenced yesterday.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
It is reported that on August 28, 2020 at about 14:30 in the afternoon, security guards from G4S securitycompany were collecting cash from Pioneer foods into their vehicle when two armed men confronted them with firearms and disarmed them.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The men then robbed the guards of a firearm and two (2) boxes and three (3) bags containing cash and fled with about R288 362-00.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Hawks serious organised crime investigation unit immediately started its investigation and managed to track down the bronze Isuzu bakkie used by the robbers as a getaway vehicle.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
Members of the unit traced it same day after the robbery and found the vehicle abandoned on an open field at Langa railway lines.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Hawks positively linked Jingilisi to the robbery and arrested him on the same day at the same place where the robbery took place at about 17:00.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
The Parow Regional court sentenced Jilingisi to 10 years direct imprisonment for robbery with aggravated circumstances. Additionally he was declared unfit to possess a firearm.<\/p>\n<\/p>\n
