{"id":31025,"date":"2021-05-27T00:00:00","date_gmt":"2021-05-27T00:00:00","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/southafricagazette.com\/?guid=527a29f6c6185b01ff2a03c72f5db7e6"},"modified":"2021-05-27T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"2021-05-27T00:00:00","slug":"suspect-in-custody-for-police-murder","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/southafricagazette.com\/suspect-in-custody-for-police-murder\/","title":{"rendered":"Suspect in custody for police murder"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><P>KWAZULU-NATAL \u2013 A 22-year-old suspect will appear in the Verulam Magistrates\u2019 Court tomorrow, 28 May 2021 following his arrest in an intelligence driven operation was conducted on 26 May 2021 by the Hawks\u2019 Serious Organised Crime Investigation team to solve the murder of a police officer.<\/P><P>It is alleged that on 11 April 2021, Sergeant Sibiya was with a companion when there was an altercation with other three males in Verulam. Sibiya was stabbed and rushed to hospital where he was declared dead on arrival. His death prompted the Hawks\u2019 investigation which led to the suspect\u2019s apprehension during the operation in the Durban CBD.<\/P><P>The suspect has been on the run since the incident which had prompted him to go into hiding.
