An intelligence-driven operation conducted by members of the Nyanga Cluster COCC last night resulted in the arrest of a 52-year-old man from White City and a 32-year-old from Crossroads in Nyanga.
Members acted on a tip-off and arrested the 52-year-old during a search conducted in his house. Four thousand and thirty two (4032) mandrax tablets were found stashed under his bed, as well as an undisclosed amount of cash, 129 bank cards from various banks, identity documents and SASSA cards. The suspect is appearing in the Philippi Magistrates’ Court today for dealing in drugs.
A 32-year-old suspect was also arrested by the same team when he was found in possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition, as well as two flat screen TVs. This suspect is expected to appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court next week for the possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition and possession of stolen property.
The Western Cape Provincial Commissioner, Lieutenant General Khombinkosi Jula, praised the members for their successful work and for their proactive networking expertise with the community.
