Suspect arrested in Kuilsriver for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, stolen property and drugs

The vigilance of members attached to the K9 unit led to the apprehension of a 47-year-old suspect at a residence in Kuilsrivier during the earlier hours of this morning for the possession of an unlicensed firearm, stolen property and drugs. The members traced a vehicle, which was stolen in Milnerton and were led to a residence in Haasendal where the vehicle was recovered and seized. The residence was searched, which led to the discovery of a large quantity of presumably stolen property comprising television sets, computers and an assortment of electronic equipment, an unlicensed firearm and ammunition, mandrax tablets and two bullet proof jackets. The circumstances surrounding the discovery of the seized items are currently under investigation. The suspect is due to make a court appearance in Blue Downs on Monday, to face the charges against him. The arrest is regarded a remarkable breakthrough in the investigation of housebreaking cases in the Peninsula.
