BLOEMFONTEIN – Crime Intelligence in Mangaung Metro were tasked to trace a 28-year-old suspect wanted for an attempted murder case opened at Kopanong Police Station. The case emanated from a Domestic Violence related incident between a boyfriend and girlfriend. The suspect was tracked down and Tactical Response Team then mobilised to assist with the arrest on Friday, 10 February 2023.
The team arrived at the suspect’s hideout in Thagane Street – Rocklands outside Bloemfontein at about 10:00. The 28-year-old male was found sleeping and was immediately arrested. The suspect voluntarily gave the police information on the place where the firearm was kept.
The team followed up the information and arrived at Pieter Swarts Fix Flat Tyre in Phase 4 at 11:00. Another suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm. The 39-year-old male led the police to a stack of tyres where the 9mm Taurus pistol loaded with two (2) rounds was hidden. A case docket was opened at Bloemspruit Police Station.
The two suspects will appear in Bloemfontein Magistrate Court soon.
