POLOKWANE- The Acting Provincial Commissioner of the South African Police Service in Limpopo Major General Jan Scheepers had today, 08 April 2022 joined the MEC for Transport and Community Safety Mrs Mavhungu Lerule-Ramakhanya during the Arrive Alive Easter Road Safety Campaign Launch, which is aimed to reduce road fatalities along the roads as the citizens are making ways to their respective destinations.
The MEC led the multi-disciplinary roadblock on the N1 South which comprised of various role players that include senior police officers and other members from different Police Stations and Units, the Provincial and Municipal Traffic officers, LEDET, Home Affairs, YCOP and the Community Policing Forum (CPF).
The roadblock was up and running on the busy N1 South road in the Westenburg policing area, and members were hands on checking any illegal activities in transit, unroadworthy vehicles and drunken driving. Motorists, vehicles and commuters were searched.
The operation had culminated into parallel and simultaneous activities when the Saps members were deployed back to their respective policing areas and continued with visibility and patrols.
The following successes were achieved:

*Vehicles discontinued = 09
*illegal immigrants =26
*Bribery =01
Whereas, Provincial Joint Crime Intervention Operation was underway in the Thohoyandou policing area under Vhembe District led by the District Commissioner Major General Eddie van der Walt and Operation “Paseka” in Lebowakgomo under Capricorn District led by the Station Commander of SAPS Seshego Brigadier Shirinda, conducted through various ways including roadblocks and intensive patrols.
