The SAPS members were reportedly out on a routine Crime Prevention patrol when they detected a suspicious looking vehicle with three occupants. A stop and search led the members to recover an unlicensed firearm and the subsequent arrest of the three men.

The firearm will be subjected to ballistic tests to determine whether it may be linked to other serious crimes.
