WELKOM – A 26-year-old man boarded a white Toyota Conquest with registration number HCL 208 FS that posed as a taxi and his destination was from Naudeville to Welkom CBD.
The incident happened on 23 October 2022 at about 15:30.
When he entered the vehicle there was a driver and two passengers. The vehicle drove in the outskirts of the town towards Bultfontein road, the two passengers drew knives and the driver drew a handgun.
The victim was searched and R800-00 cash was robbed from him and one of the passengers pulled him out of the vehicle. A case of armed robbery was registered at about 18:00 at Welkom Police Station. The victim never sustained any injuries.
Residents of Naudeville and other suburbs are sternly warned to only use vehicles with taxi cab to show that it’s the real taxi.
