KIMBERLEY – The Premier of the Northern Cape, Dr Zamani Saul released the Crime Statistics for the period 2019/2020 virtually in Kimberley this afternoon.
In his introductory address, Dr Saul welcomed the statistics and pointed out that they will assist in terms of fighting various forms of crime.
The Premier indicated concerns regarding crimes against women and children, particularly sexual offences. He appealed to the community to assist the police in the fight against criminality.
The Premier concluded by appealing to the community to continue adhering to the COVID-19 health and safety protocols in order to contain the pandemic.
The Premier invited the Provincial Commissioner of the Northern Cape, Lieutenant General Risimati Peter Shivuri for the presentation of the crime statistics. Lt Gen Shivuri in his introductory remarks indicated that police will intensify police initiated operations as part of fighting crime.
The Provincial Commissioner invited Colonel Peters for the presentation of crime statistics.
Members of the media were given the opportunity to ask questions virtually which were addressed by the Provincial Commissioner, MEC for Transport Safety and Liaison Me Nomandla Bloem and the Premier.
