Police seized cookies, candies and peanuts made with dagga mixture for analysis, arrests made

BOHLOKONG – An intelligence driven operation conducted in Bohlokong together with station and District Crime Combating Unit resulted in the arrest of four suspects for dealing in dagga.

On Friday, 19 August 2022, SAPS Bethlehem Crime Intelligence, Thabo Mofutsanyana District Crime Combating Unit and Bohlokong police station jointly addressed the outcry of community with regard to people allegedly selling drugs in township. The team already identified a few houses in which searches were conducted. In the process, four suspects were arrested for dealing in dagga, cash and dagga were seized.

It was reported that at one specific house the team found a build-in tuck shop operating inside the house. Upon searching the house they found a scale, mask, peanuts and chocolate cookies and candies probably mixed with dagga and an unknown drug. The items are priced at high street value to customers. The suspect already packaged the items and possessed large quantities of dagga and cash. The 36-year-old was also arrested and all exhibits confiscated for further analysis.

The five arrested suspects are expected to appear before the Bethlehem Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 August 2022, each to face a charge of dealing in dagga.

Police has since issued a warning to parents to be extra cautious and to warn their children not to buy cookies and candies laced with drugs.
