Police appeal for information in search for a missing man aged 51

BURGESFORT – The Police in Burgersfort are appealing for information that can assist to locate a 51-year-old man from Tukakgomu.

Phineas Tlaishego Mogoane reportedly left home on 24 December 2022 with the intention to plough on his farm in Kopi village but failed to return home.

He allegedly passed by his aunt’s house at Grootboom farm at about 15:00 and informed her that he is going back home to spend Christmas day with his family. He was then seen on Christmas day in the morning going home with his dog but the dog later arrived home without the master.

The family of the missing man reported the matter to the police on Saturday 07 January 2023. Consequently, a missing person file was opened and the search operation commenced comprising the local Detectives, K9 Unit and Provincial Search and Rescue team, covering also the local mountains and river. Unfortunately, the victim could not be located and the search continues.

Police urge anyone with information on where the missing person might be to contact the investigating officer Sergeant Sharon Makama on 076 317 5232 or Crime Stop number 0860010111 or MySAPSApp. They may also contact the nearest police station.
