WESTERN CAPE – Concerted efforts to keep our communities safe and to rid our streets from illegal firearms yielded good results when members of Ocean View police arrested an adult male for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition this morning at about 01:15.

The members were busy with patrols due to ongoing gang activities and shooting in the area when they spotted three males walking in the road and when they saw the marked police vehicle started to run. The members gave chase and one male was apprehended and found in possession of a .32 pistol and ammunition.

The suspect is due to make a court appearance in the Simon’s Town Magistrates court once he has been charged.
