National Head of FCS visits the Eastern Cape

Eastern Cape Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences (FCS) Units were delighted to host the National Component Head: FCS, Major General Bafana Linda and his entourage at the SAPS Provincial Office today.

The visit was part of the roadshow which is meant to promote excellence within the unit.

The meeting served as a golden opportunity for all FCS Units in the Province to register their concerns and challenges with the national delegation.

Shortage of resources, a major concern during the interaction, was discussed at length, so as to create mutual understanding and improve service delivery.

Major General Linda encouraged members to pull their socks up and make sure FCS Unit is the best unit. “Raise the bar that it becomes difficult for people to come to FCS.”- he encouraged.

He also shared his detective experience with the audience and explained the characteristics of a detective.

He characterised positive attitude as an effective aspect. And such attitude determines latitude. “Your knowledge and skills will be useless without positive attitude….. And your attitude determines your latitude.”- he explained.

“Our communities need to know about our success. Please market FCS Unit.”- he urged.

The General encouraged all commanders to acknowledge and motivate members on the ground. “When you abuse a member, you don’t kill only them, but also their families.”- he explained.

Attendees were very impressed with the informative session where the National Head of FCS promised them a brighter future.
