MORE SOUTH AFRICAN USING MOBILE PHONES TO ACCESS INTERNET

JOHANNESBURG, According to Effective Measure South Africa’s Mobile Report 2017, more South Africans are using their mobile phones to access the Internet.

The report, which says that this was an increase of 15 per cent from 2015, adds that mobile is, and should be, top of mind for the digital industry.

About 35 per cent of South Africans reach for their cellphone to access the Internet first thing in the morning, while 36 per cent browse the Web on their cellphones while watching television.

More than 52 percent of cellphone users have chosen leading telecommunication services provider Vodacom as their preferred network, 30 per cent are on MTN while 12 per cent are with Cell C, the report says.
