Mitchells Plain police arrest suspects in possession of unlicensed and prohibited firearms and ammunition

The determination of police members in Mitchells Plain to combat crime led to the arrest of two suspects on Friday 30 December 2022 for being in possession of an unlicensed and a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
The police members were busy with patrols in Symphony Way in Tafelsig, when they noticed two unknown males who acted suspiciously. They stopped and searched both males and confiscated a pistol with ammunition. They arrested and detained the man aged 31 on a charge of possession of a prohibited firearm and ammunition.
In an unrelated intervention the police members responded to information and searched an identified address. Upon arrival in Honolulu Street in Tafelsig, they searched the premises and confiscated a revolver with ammunition. They arrested and detained a 48-year-old man on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.
Once charged the suspects are expected to make their respective court appearances in the Mitchells Plain Magistrates Court on the mentioned charges.
