Intelligence driven operation dubbed cease fire hits hard on criminals

The SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Jim Ledwaba and his management have declared war on criminals where in a relentless effort to eradicate incidents of TRIO crimes throughout this Province especially in the crime infested areas, the Intelligent led Joint operations are hitting hard on criminals involved in this crime category with fruitful results.

In the Waterval Policing area outside Makhado, the Intelligent led Joint operation intercepted a group of syndicate before they could rob the local petrol station and arrested two (02) suspects aged between 23 and 36 and recovered firearms and ammunition.

This operation was composed of the Waterval Police, Makhado Cluster k9 Unit, Makhado Cluster First Responder Team, the Public Order Police Unit and Makhado Cluster Crime Intelligence where they waited for a group of criminals inside the local petrol Station who were coming to rob this business and arrested them.

The operation continued at the Elim Mall resulting in the arrest of three (03) suspects aged 22 and 34 and the recovery of a firearm with ammunition and one suspected motor vehicle soon after they robbed a courier car. The preliminary Police investigations have revealed that this motor vehicle was reported stolen at Mondeo Policing area in the Gauteng Province.

These arrested suspects are believed to be a syndicate which was terrorising members of the community on TRIO crimes in and around the Makhado and Thohoyandou Clusters for some time.

During this operation in the Makhado Cluster, the following items were recovered:

* 03 x 9mm firearms

* 42 x ammunition

* 01 x suspected stolen motor vehicle

* Three (03) cell phones

* Three (03) magazines

Meanwhile in the Mankweng Cluster outside Polokwane ,three (03) suspects aged between 26 and 31 who were highly wanted for a series of business robberies in the area were arrested during a sting Intelligent led joint operation for possession of unlicensed firearms and ammunition and the following items were recovered :

* Two (02) firearms

* Two (02) magazines

* 54 live ammunition

* Cash amount of R7800.00

* 07 A� 50ml of liquor

* 07 A� 20 packets of cigarettes

The arrested suspects during these operations will appear before the Waterval and Mankweng Magistrate Courts respectively soon.

The Provincial Commissioner has applauded the members of these Teams from various Units in the Makhado and Mankweng Clusters for cracking these crime syndicates through their hard work and dedication and their continuous successful effort in the fight against the mushrooming of illegal firearms in this Province.

All criminals out there who are still engaged in their dirty tricks of terrorising members of the Community including the business community, their days are numbered because we are going to deal with them mercilessly and without compromise, concluded General Ledwaba.
