Illegal firearms seized and a 28 year old man arrested in Brackenfell

Western Cape: Vigilant Brackenfell SAPS members who followed up on information removed a cache of firearms from the streets and arrested a 28 year old suspect.

The man from Protea Village, Brackenfell was arrested last night (Monday, 2018-04-16) for possession of unlicensed firearms, ammunition and illegal explosives.

Members working in the Brackenfell SAPS Community Service Centre received information about illegal firearms being kept at a residence in Protea Village. A search warrant was obtained and at approximately 19:50 on Monday evening Brackenfell SAPS members entered and searched the premises.

The following items were found and confiscated by SAPS:

16 Magazines

5 firearms (pistols) with serial numbers filed off

1 Rusty revolver

1 Shotgun

1 Silencer

1 Telescope

1 Stun grenade

The arrested 28 year old suspect was detained and is due to appear in the Blue Downs Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday, 2018-04-18. The investigation continues.
