High density Operation Fiela II crack the whip on criminals

The SAPS Provincial Commissioner Lt. General Nneke Jim Ledwaba, the Deputy Provincial Commissioners, the Provincial Heads and Cluster Commanders from support and operational environments were out in full force taking a lead during joint operations in all the Clusters as part of strengthening strategies to fight various categories of crimes throughout the Province. These operations are Intelligence driven and are continuing to crack the whip on criminals.

These operations were conducted through various ways including road blocks, stop and searches, raiding of illegal liquor outlets, etc. and they were up and running until this morning, 10 June 2018.

This became evident when these operations which were conducted in all the Clusters successfully yielded the following positive results:

A total of 927 suspects aged between 18 and 49 years were arrested for various offences ranging from assault, theft, house breaking, murder, illegal immigration Act, armed to business robberies and possession of drugs and dagga, possession of firearm and ammunition without licence.

In the Maake Policing area outside Tzaneen, three (03) suspects were arrested for rape and robbery where a sixty eight (68) year old woman was raped and robbed off cash amount of money.

In the Lephalale Cluster , a 20-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of 68 sachets of nyaope and one packet of dagga whereas in the Bela Bela Cluster, five (05) suspects aged between 26 and 31 were arrested for possession of suspected stolen properties ,burglary business and murder and recovered suspected stolen items.

In the Burgersfort Cluster, two (02) suspects aged 31 and 36 were arrested for a series of burglary businesses and recovered a large amount of suspected stolen properties.

During the duration of these operations, the following items were recovered:

* 12 x firearms.

* 33 x ammunition and 06 magazines.

* 98 x sachets of Nyaope

* 58 dagga plants and 54 grams of dagga.

* 07 x suspected stolen motor vehicles.

* 20 x cellphones.

* 02 plasma TV’s.

* 01 tractor, 01 laptop, 01 tablet

* Car radios, hair clipped, shoes, trousers, Samsung DVD, car speakers, bedding, balaclavas, refrigerator, grass mower, microwave, rolls of copper wires, urn, car tools, computer, grass trimmer, dagga, window frames ,

* cash amount of R175,00 ,Vodacom airtime vouchers valued R229.00 ,MTN vouchers valued R70.00 ,03A�20 RG cigarettes ,03A�CISSOR cigarettes and 35A� RAZLER packets.

On top of the abovementioned successes, the following activities and searches were conducted during the entire operations:

* 4099 people were searched, 1484 vehicles were searched, 126 cars were tested, 38 petrol stations were visited, 46 banks were visited, 47 houses were searched, 02 compounds were visited ,36 shebeens were raided ,11 shopping malls were visited ,20 taxi ranks were visited, 02 National Key Points were visited ,35 ATM’s were visited ,72 businesses were visited, 02 cordon and searches were also conducted.

The arrested suspects will appear before different Magistrate Courts across the Province soon.
