Four die in accidents in Khomas and Ohangwena

Four people died in separate road accidents in the Khomas and Ohangwena regions over the weekend.

According to a Namibian Police Force (NamPol) crime report issued on Sunday, two people died after a Toyota seven-seater overturned on the Oshikango-Edundja gravel road in the Ohangwena Region on Saturday.

The report said they were passengers in the vehicle which was allegedly attempting to evade the police as they reportedly had fuel that had been smuggled from Angola in the vehicle.

One of the passengers died on the scene, while the other died upon arrival at the Oshakati Intermediate Hospital.

“The driver fled the scene,” it said.

The deceased’s next of kin have been informed, and police investigations continue.

In Windhoek, two men died after a Volkswagen sedan allegedly collided with a Toyota sedan in Hochland Park on Saturday.

The Toyota had four occupants and one person died on the spot, while the other died in hospital.

The two other occupants sustained serious injuries and were admitted to the Katutura State Hospital and Roman Catholic Hospital, respectively.

“The driver of the Golf was alone and fled the scene,” the crime report stated.

Police investigations continue.
