ZWELITSHA – SAPS Despatch detectives are urgently seeking the driver of a vehicle, who was allegedly involved in an accident with a pedestrian in Algoa Road, Despatch, last night, 4 April 2022.

It is alleged that at about 20:00, the driver of a VW T-Cross was travelling behind another vehicle in Algoa Road, when the driver suddenly heard something falling on top of her vehicle. She immediately stopped and discovered the body of a male lying in the road. It is further alleged that the driver of the other vehicle failed to stop at the accident scene.

A case of culpable homicide is under investigation. The name of the 52-year-old victim will be released once a formal identification is done.

Police are appealing to anyone who may have witnessed the incident or who is able to assist with information about the driver or his/her whereabouts, is requested to contact Detective Warrant Officer Mario Jonck on 084 810 9078/ 041 933 8800 or Crime Stop 08600 10111.
