Deputy Provincial Commissioner for policing leads high density operations in the John Taolo Gaetsewe District

JOHN TAOLO GAETSEWE DISTRICT – Police conducted several high density operations in the district, which were led by the Deputy Provincial Commissioner for Policing, Major General Luntu Ngubelanga.

The operational commander, Colonel Gabriel Nkunika accompanied by station commanders and members from 17 police stations within the district conducted disruptive actions which commenced on 10 February 2023 until 11 February 2023.

The teams comprised of Visible Policing units, POP, K9, the Kuruman Stock Theft and Endangered Species unit, detectives, Highway Patrol, Crime Intelligence, reservists, external players and law enforcement agencies.

Roadblocks were conducted on the N14 and with random vehicle checkpoints during which 222 motor vehicles, 735 persons were stopped and searched and various fines were issued for traffic violations amounting to R12 500-00.

Blue light patrols in residential areas and on national roads were at the order of the day. The teams conducted compliance inspections at 17 liquor outlets within four station precincts.

A total of five suspects were arrested and drugs including Tik, dagga, mandrax, crystal meth were seized during separate disruptive actions.

General Ngubelanga, commended the JTG District office, the overall commander Brig Kenneth Baloyi, station commanders, the various specialized units and external role-players for a well-planned operation and for the professional conduct the members displayed throughout the operations.

The community was lauded for their assistance in being the eyes and the ears of the police. He also promised that operations such as these will be ongoing throughout the province to ensure perpetrators are brought to book and will be put behind bars where they belong.
