On Sunday, January 26 in Cairo, Egypt, the Emergemcy Committee of the Confederation Africaine de Football held a meeting chaired by CAF President Mr. Ahmad Ahmad.
After the usual greetings to the members of the Emergency Committee, the President Ahmad Ahmad congratulated Mr. Hany Abo Rida, President of the Egyptian Football Association, for his appointment as President of the Local Organisation Committee of the Total Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2019.
Then the following decisions were taken by the Committee.

Dates of the AFCON 2019 final tournament
The Total Africa Cup of Nations, Egypt 2019 with its new-24 teams format will be held from 21 june to 13 july 2019.
Preparations of the competition
Following the presentation of the time-line of preparations proposed by the administration, the President recommended to multiply the workshops in all fields: referees, protocol, security, media officers, coaches, general coordinators
Qualification for the final tournament of the AFCON 2019
Confirmation has been raised regarding the qualification to the final tournament of the AFCON Egypt 2019.
In the actual phase of qualifiers, there are 12 groups of 4 teams and the host team is playing in one of the groups. Its matches are taken into consideration.
The first and runner up of the 11 groups where the host is not playing will qualify to the final tournament.
For the group of the host, since the host is automatically qualified despite its result, the following scenario will apply :
� If the host is ranked first, the host is qualified in addition to the second of the group
� If the host is ranked second, the host will qualify in addition to the first of the group
� If the host is ranked third or fourth, the host will qualify in addition to the first of the group.
Regarding the date of the Super Cup 2018
The Emergency Committee approved the proposal to play the CAF Super Cup on March 29, 2019 in Doha, Qatar.
