Milnerton police were busy with routine patrols on Saturday, 2 July 2022 near to Freedom Way in Joe Slovo informal settlement. They spotted a suspicious person and approached and searched him, upon which they confiscated a 9mm pistol with ammunition. The suspect was arrested and detained on a charge of possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

An integrated operation in Site C Khayelitsha yielded success when police members pounced on an identified address in Hurley Street in Ikwezi Park. Upon searching the premises they confiscated ammunition and counterfeit goods. A 37-year-old Egyptian foreign national was arrested and detained on charges of possession of unlicensed ammunition and possession of counterfeit goods.

Once charged the suspects are expected to make their court appearances in the Cape Town and Khayelitsha Magistrates’ courts on the mentioned charges.
