DEALESVILLE – Bloemfontein Public Order Policing Unit and Dealesville SAPS members arrested a male with a firearm during an operation.

On 19 August 2022 at about 09:00, while on patrol, the members have operationalized information received from the community and proceeded to the identified residential premises. Upon arriving at the premises, police observed a male who was seen disposing of an unknown package inside a drain. Upon closer inspection, members discovered a black plastic bag containing a firearm.

The identified 22-year-old suspect was arrested for possession of unlicensed firearm. He will appear in Dealesville Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 22 August 2022.

The District Commissioner of Lejweleputswa, Major General Lerato Molale praised these members for responding swiftly when the residents gave them information about an illegal firearm. We regard this seizure as a breakthrough because as it prevented serious crimes and loss of lives. Maj Gen Molale thanked the community of Dealesville for being the eyes and ears for the police.
