A man behind bars for kidnapping and murder people suspected of burglary

The Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has strongly condemned an incident in which four people suspected of burglary were kidnapped and assaulted at Kanyamazane few days ago. Two bodies of the victims were unfortunately found at Pienaar today, 09 April 2022 meanwhile one is still missing and another managed to escape with injuries after being assaulted and his family took him for medical treatment.

According to the report, the four were kidnapped on 06 April 2022 by their assailants following a burglary case that was reported at Kanyamazane where household items to the estimated value of about R 11 000 were stolen, including TV 40 inch Hisense, 3 cellphones, a Summung, Huawei , and iPhone, some clothing items (Jean’s) as well as a USB.

Further report indicates that the victims were accused of being behind the said burglary and they were allegedly kidnapped and severely assaulted. The one who escaped lived to tell the tale of their ordeal. Sadly two have already lost their lives. The matter was brought to the attention of the police at Pienaar where an investigation led to the arrest of the suspect. Police are still in pursuit of other suspects who were behind this and the investigation into the missing person still continues.

The suspect is expected to appear before court soon facing two counts of murder and more charges may be added as the investigation proceed.

Meanwhile the Provincial Commissioner of the SAPS in Mpumalanga, Lieutenant General Semakaleng Daphney Manamela has warned people not to take the law into their own hands. “People should learn to allow the wheels of justice to turn whenever they have complaints. It has been proven several times that the law does punish the wrongdoers, especially with the convictions and sentences that we continuously communicate” said the General.
