Qatar Airways Named Official Airline of 123rd Canton Fair

Partnership Helps Middle Eastern and African Buyers Join Hands with Chinese Companies by Offering Special Deal on Travel to the Fair

GUANGZHOU, China, April 2, 2018 /PRNewswire/ — The China Import and Export Fair (the Canton Fair) has named Qatar Airways as the official partner airline of the 123rd Canton Fair. As part of the partnership, Qatar Airways will offer special discounted fares to people traveling to the Fair, with a special focus on buyers flying from select cities in the Middle East and Africa.

Duo nabbed for two counts of murder, attempted murder, kidnapping and rape

Potchefstroom � Police in Ganyesa nabbed two suspects aged 24 and 30 in the early hours of today, 2 April 2018 for two counts of murder, four of attempted murder, car-hijacking, business robbery, illegal possession of firearm and ammunition, kidnapping and rape.

The suspects’ apprehension stems from an incident in which they allegedly shot and killed two men in Ganyesa village outside Vryburg on Sunday, 1 April 2018. Subsequent to the incident, the police found two men with gun wounds and a seriously injured woman after rapidly responding to information about a shooting incident that occurred along the Ganyesa main road.

It is alleged that a group of women were from a local tavern when the suspects tried to rob them. Upon realising what was about to occur, they screamed for help. According to information received, the men who were passing by with their vehicle saw what was happening and drove back to assist the women. The men, aged 42 and 47 were allegedly shot at by the suspects. While driving back, the men collided with a fence and later found dead inside their vehicle while one of the women was seriously injured. The suspects allegedly kidnapped one of the women (23) and fled the scene. The woman was allegedly raped by one of the suspects.

In order to ensure that the suspects are arrested, the police blocked Vryburg-Ganyesa and Swartfontein-Vryburg roads. That resulted in the arrest of one of the suspects on the Vryburg-Ganyesa roadblock while the second suspects was nabbed in the Vryburg Central Business District (CBD). The first suspect was found in possession of a firearm and ammunition.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the pair is linked with other cases of business robbery and attempted murder they allegedly committed in Morokweng. They are also linked with a car-hijacking and attempted murder cases that were reported in Mooinooi on Friday, 30 March 2018. They are expected to appear in the Ganyesa Magistrates’ Court on Tuesday, 3 April 2018.

The North West Acting Provincial Commissioner, Major General Ryno Naidoo commended the police for their quick response that led to the arrest of the suspects. He also expressed condolences to the families of the two men who lost their lives while trying to assist the women that were being robbed. He said that the police will work hard to ensure that justice is served.

Cash-in-transit vehicle in accident near Kroondal offramp

Rustenburg: Police in Rustenburg together with traffic officials as well as Emergency Medical & Rescue Services (EMRS) are currently at the scene of an accident that occurred along N4 road near Kroondal off-ramp. According to information, a SBV cash-in-transit vehicle that was coming from Kroondal direction towards Rustenburg when it collided with an oncoming Ford Everest travelling in the opposite direction approximately an hour ago. Information received is that two occupants of the Ford Everest are trapped inside the vehicle while three SBV security personnel were taken to hospital. Due to this accident, traffic is affected on N4. Motorists driving towards Pretoria are advised to use R104 road. Those that are coming from Pretoria to Rustenburg are urged to take Kroondal off-ramp.

Limpopo police investigate the death of a couple

The Police in Saselamani near Malamulele are investigating the death of a couple which occurred at Mhingaville.

It is alleged that on 1 April 2018 at about 17:00, a couple was found dead in their house after the man, Gezani Donald Mahori aged 32, was found hanged inside the house and his wife Fortunate Shopola aged 25 year, was found lying dead inside the toilet with multiple wounds throughout her body.

The exact date and time of their death is not known because members of the community observed flies around the couple’s house after they were last seen three days back and summoned the Police who then reacted swiftly.

The motive behind this incident and the circumstances thereof is still not clear at this stage but domestic violence may not be ruled out.

Members of the community are still encouraged to consult their local professionals for intervention whenever they are in any domestic related situation rather that resorting to violence.

The Police investigations are continuing.
