Two suspects to appear in court for dealing in drugs

Police participated in efforts to address the drivers of crime by investigating alleged illegal drug activities at a residence in Oostersee, Parow. A sting operation, in which various police units were involved, was conducted at the house in Drommedaris Street.

On Thursday 15 June 2017, after the agent indicated that the drug transaction had been completed, the police swooped on the premises, after which the money used in the operation was recovered and a variety of drugs was seized.

Thereafter a search warrant was executed upon which additional drugs, including dagga and tablets which are still to be analysed, were also confiscated.

The drugs included Ecstasy tablets, Methadone, Magic Mushrooms and Golden Teachers.

The R40 000 used during the sting operation was recovered and additional cash and documents found on the premises were also seized.

A 23-year-old man and his girlfriend of the same age were arrested on charges of dealing in drugs and will appear in Parow Magistrates’ Court on Monday, 19 June 2017.

Major General PM Mokushane appointed as Acting Divisional Commissioner of Crime Intelligence

Pretoria: The Acting National Commissioner of the South African Police Service, Lieutenant General Lesetja Mothiba, has announced that Major General PM (Pat) Mokushane was appointed as the Acting Divisional Commissioner of the SAPS’s Crime Intelligence Division on 10 June 2017. He will perform duties in this post until further notice.

Major General Mokushane has served in the South African Police Service for 23 years, the majority of his service being in intelligence. He has thus acquired vast experience in the police’s crime intelligence environment and his placement as the Acting Divisional Commissioner will enhance that division’s capacity to prevent and combat crime and maintain stability in South Africa.

The previous incumbent in the post, Major General MA (Agnes) Makhele, has returned to her permanent post as Provincial Head of Crime Intelligence in the Free State. Her diligent service during her 18 month tenure as Acting Divisional Commissioner is greatly appreciated.

Crime intelligence plays a critical role in the fight against crime and management of the South African Police Service is confident that Major General Mokushane will contribute towards us ensuring that the people of South Africa are and feel safe.
