Together with the first online graduates who participated in the February 2016 ceremony, they comprise the inaugural 2016 graduating cohort.

“The University of Roehampton, through our colleges, has a long tradition of providing higher education, lasting 175 years. We are committed to expanding access to education, ensuring that all of our students become the kind of graduate employers value. We are delighted to see so many of our online students graduate this year,” said Professor Paul O’Prey, Vice-Chancellor of the University.

Online graduates had the option to attend the graduation ceremony in person and graduate with the University’s campus-based students at the Royal Festival Hall, in the heart of London’s South Bank arts and cultural quarter.

“Having worked in the financial sector for nine years, I consider the Nigerian banking industry to be one of the most technologically driven sectors in the country. I chose Roehampton’s online programme because I wanted to develop my managerial competencies and be able to make strategic decisions that would support my organisation through using innovative technology,” said Oluchi Anih, an MSc in Information Systems Management graduate from Abuja, Nigeria, who attended the ceremony and events with her family. “Since beginning my degree I have been promoted, and recently I received a commendation from management, so my efforts have paid off more than I could have imagined.”

Lumenis Introduces a 360° Solution for Women’s Gynecological Health at the 2016 International Urogynecological Association Meeting

Enabling Gynecologists and Urogynecologists to Offer Advanced Treatments for a Variety of Gynecological and Vaginal Health Conditions and Expand their Practice Offering

YOKNEAM, Israel, Aug. 02, 2016 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) — Lumenis Ltd., the world’s largest energy-based medical device company for surgical, aesthetic and ophthalmic applications, announced the introduction of FemTouch™, an enhancement to the comprehensive offering for women’s gynecological health, along with the AcuPulse™ CO2 laser product family, at the upcoming 41st Annual International Urogynecological Association (IUGA) meeting, being held in Cape Town, South Africa from August 2-6, 2016.

FemTouch, the latest addition to the AcuPulse product family, addresses vaginal health-related conditions by promoting the remodeling of the vaginal mucosal layer leading to the restoration of the vaginal canal to a premenopausal-like stage. In a series of comfortable and easy office-based treatments, each taking no more than five minutes to complete, FemTouch provides a fast and efficient solution resulting in positive outcomes after only two to four treatments, as indicated by patients around the world.

“My menopause patients are so thankful for helping to restore their sex lives and relieve their vaginal dryness,” said Scott Evan Eder, MD, The Center for Women’s Health & Wellness, New Jersey. “One patient said she felt 19 years old again!”

The AcuPulse CO2 laser family of products is an upgradable, all-inclusive platform providing both precision and flexibility in minimally invasive laparoscopic and colposcopy procedures in the inpatient and outpatient domains.

Fertility and pain-related indications including endometriosis, adhesions and uterine fibroids, can be treated with ideal control over cutting, ablation and coagulation with minimal intervention to nearby tissue. The treatment results in minimal thermal damage, preservation of valuable structures and an overall enhancement of a woman’s quality of life.

“Treating endometriosis lesions on critical intra-abdominal structures, such as the bowel, bladder, ureter and major blood vessels, can be quite challenging as one needs to avoid perforations and minimize risk of adhesion formation and other potential complications,” said Ceana Nezhat, MD, FACOG, FACS, Nezhat medical Center, Georgia. “Using CO2 laser fibers during laparoscopic procedures enables us to precisely target the desired treatment areas with markedly reduced thermal damage to surrounding tissues. This new AcuPulse CO2 technology is the wave of the future in minimally invasive gynecological surgery.”

“Lumenis collaborates with leading gynecologists to develop various solutions to advance the treatment of women’s health,” said Tzipi Ozer-Armon, CEO of Lumenis. “With an extensive gynecological portfolio of products that offer optimal control and precision, Lumenis proudly offers women around the globe comprehensive solutions to improve their gynecological health with less post-operative morbidity, fewer disease recurrence rates and, ultimately, an improved quality of life.”

Africa: ‘Hola’ and ‘Heita’ to South Africa from Spain’s LaLiga

The first LaLiga office in Africa, based in Johannesburg, has had a busy six months since they opened. They have been laying the foundations for their expansion in the continent, part of the global strategy that the organisation embarked on two years ago, according to LaLiga President Javier Tebas, a Spanish soccer-administration veteran of more than 30 years. For LaLiga, currently ranked the top league in Europe by UEFA, this is the first step in networking more closely with its fans throughout South Africa and the African continent.

“We are thanking our African fans for their support during this period, by giving back and helping African soccer train more heroes who will share their glorious skills with us when they ply their trade in LaLiga,” says Tebas. “In October, we shall be hosting three gifted young players who will come to Spain to hone their talents as part of the Future Champions project, which is run by the Gauteng provincial government. Then in December, we shall be sponsoring the Kwamahlobo Games in Soweto.”

Javier Tebas is excited about LaLiga’s involvement in the local Sowetan Tournament’s 20th Anniversary, in which LaLiga Africa Office Director Antonio Barradas, former vice-president of South Africa’s Lusitano FC, and former owner of Spain’s CD Badajoz, will be closely involved.

“The Kwamahlobo games involves over 40 teams from around the country, and has seen the likes of PSL players featuring early in their careers,” Barradas explains. “This tournament will assist in providing a platform for young talented players to showcase their skills during the festive season.”

In addition to this tournament, and other initiatives currently identified, LaLiga will be donating 1,000 soccer balls to the Cyril Ramaphosa Foundation, to be distributed around their on-going sports programmes and schools.

LaLiga recognises that to achieve their South African objectives, they also need to build strong relationships with crucial role-players in South African soccer. Javier Tebas will join Antonio Barradas in a series of meetings with SA clubs and with government representatives.

LaLiga President Javier Tebas, traces the interest of South African soccer fans in the beautiful game in Spain back to the 1990s, when Benni McCarthy and Quinton Fortune, and more recently Tsepo Masilela, took their golden touch onto Spanish grounds. Another milestone came in 2010 when the Spanish national team returned the compliment in Johannesburg with their FIFA World Cup triumph – and with the kind of flamboyant and creative play that wins the hearts of African fans.

All this attention kick-started SA enthusiasm to see more great action from the Spanish LaLiga, with clubs such as Barcelona and Real Madrid being followed increasingly by SA fans. Now LaLiga wants to show its gratitude to its faraway fans.

“We believe that bringing LaLiga closer to its passionate fans and supporting local initiatives that assist in providing development opportunities for young players will benefit all stake-holders,” says Tebas. “This will be where Spanish and South African soccer exchange a resounding hola and heita in the spirit of a warm-hearted welcome that both our countries share.”
