Springbok Legends Coach Erongo Children

SWAKOPMUND – Three legends of the South African national rugby team, the Springboks, on Friday held a coaching clinic for children in Swakopmund.
They are former Sharks and Springbok coach Ian Macintosh, Walvis Bay born Percy Montgomery and Pieter Muller.
Speaking to Nampa at the event, West Coast Sharks (WCS) president Jurie Booysen said they invited the Springbok legends to inspire children and teach them how to achieve success.
A total of 180 children between the ages of four and 13, aspiring to be rugby stars, came face-to-face with the former rugby players they only see on television.
Booysen said, “Children who has a love for rugby need to be coached by their rugby heroes, so that they can learn the best tactics in the game at a tender age”.
Booysen said a fundraising event with the legends will be held on Saturday to raise funds for the WCS.
“We are re-establishing a team (WCS) that has been dormant for four years, so we need money to buy equipment,” Booysen told Nampa.
The one-day rugby coaching clinic took place at the Swakopmund sport centre.
It was organised by the West Coast Sharks (WCS), which was formerly known as the Swakopmund Rugby Club.
He noted that the WCS showed their appreciation to the three legends by taking them on leisure activities such as a 4

Hope as Kenya gets forensic laboratory (Daily Nation (Kenya))

Kenya has made a major step towards solving murder cases following the acquisition of a DNA identification laboratory.
The DNA identification laboratory will come in handy in forensic research and investigations .
The S billion National Crime Forensic laboratory has been established at the Kenya Medical Research Institute.
Other cases the lab is expected to solve are domestic violence, terrorist attacks and rapes, which have for years stalled due to lack of resources and equipment.
Director of Medical Services Nicholas Muraguri emphasised the need for robust forensic medicine systems in Kenya.
POOR INVESTIGATIONS
He said many cases, especially those relating to genderbased violence, are poorly investigated due to lack of proper forensic investigations.
“Resources are limited for forensic medicine in the country and this leads to a backlog of unresolved cases. This facility will support and strengthen government institutions such as the ministry of Health and the Directorate of Criminal Investigations,” said Dr Muraguri.
He spoke yesterday during the African Society of Forensic Medicine Conference held in Nairobi for the first time.
And in a speech read on his behalf by Dr Muraguri, Health Cabinet Secretary James Macharia called for development of forensics in Africa.
“This conference aims at promoting the appropriate use of Forensic Medicine in medical practice and in the justice system of various jurisdictions within Africa and sharing best practices,” said Mr Macharia.
Kenya sends samples for forensic examinations to South Africa and Germany for forensic analysis.
